First Centre for Nature & Society workshop a success!

We welcomed the first pilot groups to our ‘Mapping your Landscape’ practical workshop this Saturday (23rd October 2021). After a quick refreshment break and networking session, our CEO Kate held a fantastic talk at the Coplow Centre in Billesdon. From landscape character assessment documents to run-throughs of MAGIC GIS, our pilot groups were given all the necessary elements needed to help them develop their landscape and ecological management plan. We had some great feedback from our learners, with one individual mentioning that ‘all parish councillors should have access to this training’.

With wildlife guides and cameras to hand, we then took a trip to the Billesdon Woodland Pool Nature Reserve for our Phase 1 Habitat Survey session. The site had a diverse range of habitats and offered a great platform for learning. Our group from Above & Beyond thoroughly enjoyed their experience, stating the training was ‘absolutely brilliant’. In fact, we also held a small photography competition to boost engagement with local wildlife, and Robin from (A&B) was chosen as the winner! (Image pictured above).

Thank you to our attendees, the Coplow Centre for housing our initial and Billesdon Wildlife Group for helping to organise the event.
